"Lock the doors and close the blinds -- we're going for a ride..."
Ventura for President!
Remember the stomach bug Avi had as of yesterday? He still has it. As do I, to a lesser extent. And K, to a much larger extent. Ugh. Maybe we had tainted Passover food? Hard to say. In any case, it was one of those "take it easy" days.
Today at work everyone seems to have discovered Subservient Chicken, that wacky website where you tell a large chicken to do stuff and he does. I'm intrigued by the amount of planning that goes into it. The fact that it's sponsored by Burger King is very subtly hinted at from the main page. (It's a tie in to their chicken sandwich which you can have "your way.")
On the way home the weather was finally nice enough to shut off the A/C, roll down the window, and crank the MP3 player to a moderate volume where I could sing along. Today's MP3 CD was my 90s mix. And I was stuck in heavy I-66 and Dulles Toll road traffic, so I got quite a few stares.
What was inspiring, however, was a thumbs up and a smile given to me by a woman in a flashy little BMW who was stopped near me in traffic and heard me belt out a bit of "Hole Hearted" by Extreme. I also seemed to have a bit of fun with "Dizz Knee Land" by Dada, and "Next Year" by the Foo Fighters. (Also the theme to the now-cancelled TV show "Ed.") In fact, Av was in the car and was singing along as well! Sort of...
With Av's stomach bug, tonight was laundry night. Again. If anyone's looking for a good form of birth control, here's an idea: find someone who is a parent of a kid with a stomach bug. Volunteer to do laundry for them. If that doesn't stop you from any activity that may produce kids, I don't know what will...
So - I was a bit exhausted, bummed out, feeling a tad sick this evening. But I had a nice talk on IM with a good friend that helped me kick back and feel much better. Relaxed even. Yay!
Oh - and I saw this on Drudge: Jesse Ventura Eyes 2008 Presidential Bid. The first two paragraphs caught my eye:
The Slurpee comment alone makes me want to vote for him. Jesse Ventura has a priority for Slurpees! How can you not want him to win?

| Refreshed from a semester as a visiting professor at Harvard University, former pro wrestler and Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura says he's considering an independent run for the White House in 2008, although he acknowledges that being leader of the free world might be too confining for him. "That's an issue with me. I love my freedom," Ventura said in an interview with The Associated Press at his office at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. "The part that would bug me is I wouldn't be able to get up in the night and drive to the 7-11 for a Slurpee, not without them blocking off the roads, welding the manhole covers shut, and everything else that goes along with it." |
