"Lock the doors and close the blinds -- we're going for a ride..."

We interrupt my chronicles of my trip to New Orleans for a special announcement.

I kept this quiet because I didn't know if it was going to happen or not, but now that it has, I suppose I can share it with everyone...

At precisely 4:07pm I left my workplace and drove not to my home and not to pre-school to pick up Av. Instead, I made it to an area of Arlington, VA called "Clarendon." I parked my car, paid the meter, took out my MP3 player ("faux-pod") and umbrella and walked a block.

And then I waited. With about 75 other people in front of me.  For the line to start moving.

Into the Apple Store.

Guess who's the new owner of a 8 GB iPhone...

This thing is truly awesome. I'm still keeping my Sprint/Nextel phone until September until my contract expires. But this is really an amazing replacement. I've been exploring new features non-stop for the past few hours.

I'm in heaven!  I would take a picture of it, but the camera is actually the phone itself and I can't. I suppose I could hold it up to the mirror, but socKs is asleep and I don't want to turn on the lights.

I'm just... awestruck. This is something else.
