"Lock the doors and close the blinds -- we're going for a ride..."

If you're anybody who's anybody, you're watching the "American Idol" season premiere right now.

(Unless, of course, you don't live in the eastern portion of North America. Or unless you have something better to do.)

So -- of course I should write a relevant blog post.

You know how the newest Mindsay craze has been to record something on GabCast and allow people to hear your voice?  I was thinking of doing that -- except you can hear my voice just about every week by listening to wtf.  No real anticipation of "Oo! What does Shiny sound like?"

Hey -- here's a way to combine two blog topics into one!

Presenting -- Shiny Idol! Here's how it works:  Reply with a suggestion of a song. Something I could sing that would sound pretty good. Something I might just know the tune to and most of the words. Something impressive that someone would use for his/her American Idol audition to make him/her sound fantastic.  Once you submit it, I'll do either of the following. Either:

* I'll call up GabCast and sing about a minute's worth of the song a capella into the phone, linking to it for you to hear on your computer. I'd most likely be truncating the song a bit so you don't have to sit through much more than a verse or so. I don't want to try anyone's patience. So I'll either do that, or...

* I won't.
