"Lock the doors and close the blinds -- we're going for a ride..."
Just some boring administrative stuff...
Hey all. Just wanted to read some announcements to y'all...
* I have the answers to The Shiny Index posted at the end of the original quiz post. Congrats to all who participated, even if you thought the T-Birds were the boys' gang in the stage version of "Grease." And kudos to everyone who was giddy enough to run to their keyboards to type the word "boner." Go ahead and take the quiz anyway -- just because the answers are posted doesn't mean the honor system is dead...
* I've been getting compliments on my layout/design! Who knew? The layout I'm using now is straight HTML -- but I've been exploring and learning CSS and will try my hand at something snazzy and new in the near future. Let me know if you have any feedback; eventually along the way I'll be happy to share the templates on Mindsay.
* Right smack up top of my blog is a little "RSS" icon. Yes, my blog can now be syndicated through RSS. For those of you who don't know, RSS stands for -- aw heck, I don't even know! What I do know is that the blog can now be read in news reader programs on many different platforms. And some people will now be able to read blogs on their cel phones! If you're one of them, and you're excited about reading my blog on your cel phone, get help. Now.
* Two really cool sites I wanted to plug: The first is www.angryalien.com and re-enacts "The Shining" and "The Exorcist," each in thirty seconds. Oh. And re-enacted by bunny rabbits. The second one is something I found on Slashdot -- Somebody at Pomona made a map of Springfield, USA with amazing detail. I won't say anything further. If you get it, you get it. If not, you need to watch more TV.
* I'm experimenting in the blogosphere outside of Mindsay. But don't worry -- I enjoy the community enough that I'm definitely staying here for the time being. In the meantime, I've downloaded a blog authoring engine called Pivot onto one of my websites, and I'm playing around with some of the cool features that would only work on a site maintained by me. Perhaps I'll "syndicate" my Mindsay stuff over there; perhaps I'll have two separate blogs. Or maybe even I'll get bored of the project and abandon it. Only time will tell...
* Just troubleshot a bad NIC card in the desktop computer. ARGH! Went to CompUSA and splurged at their 4-hour sale. So now the computer is at double the memory and double the USB ports. Yay! The new hard drive goes in soon...
Zehoo. Have a great weekend, people...
