"Lock the doors and close the blinds -- we're going for a ride..."

Pleasant weekend. The kid got a new haircut and some kickin' new Nikes -- which were on sale and affordable, even at Nordstrom!

The premiere of "Six Feet Under" was on tonight -- but as we were trying to start watching it, the DVR crapped out on us. After a hard reset of the unit, it still didn't want to play the beginning of the show. So we're taping the West Coast feed (Yay HBO-West!) and will watch it tomorrow.

In the meantime -- "Colors" was on Bravo, and I re-watched it. Great movie. Very much dated (it was made in 1988 and is about the L.A. gang violence of its time, with the language and hairstyles of the era), but Dennis Hopper did a significantly great job directing Sean Penn and Robert Duvall through the war zone between the Bloods and the Crips. It even made me nostalgic for the summer of 1989 -- when I visited Disneyland for the first time and was informed that I couldn't wear any red or blue bandanas, lest I was mistaken for a gang member...

And the theme song to "Colors" -- Wow. Remember when Ice-T was just a rapper?
