Bread Again...
Back to bread, everyone! yes, Passover is finally over as of last night. And good riddance to it. Usually it doesn't bother me as much, but this year with Av getting sick and the weather being so icky we just wanted it to be over.
First meal after sundown last night: Papa Johns spinach alfredo pizza and their breadsticks. Yum. I can still feel all the carbs inside my body kickin' back, making themselves at home, and turning into fat deposits. Worth it though...
One of the problems with Passover is that I don't chew gum during it. Nor do I drink my calorie free sparkling beverage I'm hooked on. And with the matzah wrecking one's system, the dryness of everything -- I get very prone to canker sores during Passover. So my mouth hurts like hell, and I'm trying to cope and just wait 'til these things disappear.
Case and point: Lunch today was a veggie delite sub from Subway. As usual -- my esteemed dijon horseradish sauce and extra pickles. Ouch. My mouth was on fire. I'm sidelining Subway all together until my mouth can handle it.
Avi went back to day care today, but he still has a stomach bug of sorts. We have him off all dairy products for now, and he's on rice and applesauce for a while. Poor guy -- you can tell that he's just not happy but trying his best.
On the procrastination front - I finished my taxes a good 28 hours before the deadline -- and we're even getting federal and local refunds. This year I swore it wasn't going to happen this way -- in fact, I cranked up TurboTax as early as February! But the last few items finally straightened themselves out today. E-filing -- what can I say? Better than sliced matzah...
I re-watched Wet Hot American Summer while I was playing with some video codecs. I would say that this move simply fits my demographic to a "T" -- it's a parody of all of those 80s summer camp movies (Meatballs, Little Darlings, etc.) set on the last day of camp in the summer of 1981. Great cast as well -- member of the former MTV sketch comedy show The State, Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce from "Frasier," Bradley Cooper (Will Tippin on "Alias"), Chris Meloni (From "Law and Order: SVU" and "Oz") Amy Poehler and Molly Shannon (SNL), Paul Rudd ("Friends") and many more. It's one of the most inappropriate films to show kids (and any adults who may be wary of the acts of camp counselors), but extremely funny on so many levels.
Oh -- And I went to FetusMart, like many other bloggers out there...
