Exciting! The wife got an IM from out of the blue today from one of her former youth group kids who is home on Spring Break from Barnard. She was mentioning how boring it is back at home -- so K asked her if she would like to babysit tomorrow night, and she said yes! Which means we can both go to the Peter Himmelman concert together. I just hope the kid is up to the challenge as well...
Today was pretty uneventful otherwise. Just a crazy news day -- another bombing in Iraq and more depressing news about the economy. Luckilly they were able to apprehend a suspect in the Columbus freeway shootings...
There was a news story that disturbed me quite a bit. Apparently Rhea County, TN wants to enact a law that would "charge homosexuals with crimes against nature." Per the article, The Rhea County commissioners approved the request 8-0 Tuesday.
But wait -- there's more. Commissioner J.C. Fugate, who introduced the measure, also asked the county attorney to find a way to enact an ordinance banning homosexuals from living in the county. "We need to keep them out of here," Fugate said.
What's next? Ordinances against Jews? Blacks? Anyone who doesn't worship the way you're supposed to?
Do people even remember why Europeans hopped the puddle and came to the New World anyway?
Argh... Commisioner Fugate is so not getting an evite to our '90s party, I swear...
