"Lock the doors and close the blinds -- we're going for a ride..."
And the Winner Is...
yes, it's inevitable -- a blog entry about that amazing, culminating contest that I watched on TV last night. I usually don't watch the show regularly, but I put it on as background noise while I was working on the laptop.
I was surprised when I saw who the winner was. Certainly not who I expected it to be.
Nope. "Jeopardy's Tournament of Champions" was an upset last night -- with Ken Jennings being beaten out by a former record store clerk named Brad Rutter. Ken Jennings had that 74-win streak on Jeopardy, and returned to the tournament for the 2 million dollar prize. His "Final Jeopardy" answer even had a note at the bottom of it: "Go Brad!" He knew that he had been beaten.
I actually turned on "Jeopardy" on a whim -- I was waiting for "Lost" to start. And I realized that the questions were extremely tough -- tougher than I remember Jeopardy questions ever being. We're talking about Latin grammar and such. But apparently I was able to witness history.
Then I watched "Lost." I can't think of any other show this season which flowed as well as "Lost" did. And the season finale was no exception. Very freaky at the end -- especially with the altercation at sea. But then again -- the whole series has been freaky. It'll be interesting to see who will come back for the next season -- and how they will figure out how to get everyone out of the messes they're in.
"Alias," on the other hand -- the first 57 minutes were a disappointment. I really didn't like the way that it degenerated from a show about espionage and double agents to a whole arc about a big ball in the sky which turns people into zombies. The show might go by the wayside for me next season -- especially since it will be on against "Survivor" at 8:00 on Thursdays. They could have done much better.
But the last three minutes? The last 15 seconds in fact? Made me jump out of my seat. Well, kind of. I was sitting on the floor. But it was an incredible cliffhanger...
